Some people have asked how I do Caelum's skin! Well, the first time, I drew out the effect by hand. After doing it once by hand, I thought to myself, "I can find a better way to do this!" and thus, this action set was born.

This action was made in Photoshop CS6 and may or may not work in other versions of Photoshop. FILE EXTENSION: .ATN

To use it, just press play when you have a canvas open. The action will not affect any of your existing layers. It will automatically create a transparent lightning-effect lattice the size of your whole canvas, which you can then use in any way you see fit. The layer mask can be used to easily restrict the effect to a desired area.

There are two action sets included in the zip. One applies layer effects that make the action look exactly like the preview, the other has no layer effects. Each set also has two flavors: Regular and Double. Double applies "Find Edges" twice, which creates a thicker, double line effect.

To change the size of the pattern: select the "Crystallize" step and modify the Cell Size.


Action at work:
 
I use it for Caelum's cracked skin pattern, but it can very easily be used to create cool lightning or electricity effects! It's really versatile. You can also make multiple layers and combine them, which looks very cool, because every time you generate a layer with the action, it's 100% unique!
