Your character or team reflect back on their pasts. What memory stands out to them the most, whether it be a good memory or a bad one?

For a long while, nobody said anything. There were no words in any of the languages they spoke to adequately express the mixture of shock, rage, loss, and indignation they felt. Only silence could do justice to the magnitude of this loss. Even as they sat in the same room together, they were isolated by an immeasurable grief that separated each from his fellows as surely as the void of space separated the moon from the sea, except the moon and the sea were at least within a measurable distance of one another. A man might travel in a space ship between the two. From where they sat currently, there was no discernible path or technology which might take them back home.

The silence was not an easy or comfortable one. It was uniquely unbearable, even painful. Every tiny sound seemed magnified a thousand-fold: the creak of a chair, the tick of a watch, the whisper of the air. It was the sort of silence that made your skin itch and granted an unnatural awareness of the weight of the clothes you wore and the sensation of breathing through your nose. For six of them, the mere act of swallowing sounded like an ocean wave crashing sharply on the drums of their ears. Only Daiyka and n’Barit, who did not possess the ability to salivate, were spared this cacophonous realization.

For Alden, the guilt of responsibility was overwhelming, but try as he might, he could not bring himself to utter even the smallest word of comfort to the others. It was probably for the best. His desire to apologize was as admirable as it was foolhardy. An apology would not undo the circumstances that had led them to their current situation, nor would it engender any forgiveness on the parts of his teammates. If anything, it might enrage them to a boiling point and shatter what little camaraderie they possessed.

Still, as he looked at Abernathy -- Erbium Knight -- Alden felt truly and wholly sorry. It was entirely his fault that Abernathy was with them on this trip. Alden could still recall their first meeting and the way Abernathy’s eyes had locked upon nearby objects, the walls, and the floor. Anything to avoid eye contact. The mere act of soliciting a handshake seemed to terrify Abernathy. Alden had felt an deep pang of sympathy for the shy teenager. It was at that exact moment he had decided to help Abernathy in any way possible, as if the sum total culmination of his purpose in becoming a knight was to help this one person.

There was a saying in the Quran: if anyone saves a life, it shall be as though he had saved the lives of all mankind. Having experienced both, Alden could say with certainty that the process of trying to save a single person had been far more rewarding than saving the world. Guiding Abernathy from nervous and defensive teenager to quiet and sensitive young man had filled Alden with a sense of pride and achievement and given him a purpose in life.

This situation forced him to question whether or not he ever should have gotten himself involved in Abernathy’s affairs at all. All the good he had done paled in comparison to the great injustice of stranding Abernathy as far from home as could be imagined.

At the end of the day, could Alden really say he had improved Abernathy’s life? Perhaps Abernathy would have overcome all that anxiety and reached the same level of interpersonal competency without Alden’s help, and done so without ever being separated from his home planet. As he looked at Abernathy now, Alden was glad that the young man’s eyes were fixed firmly into space instead of making eye contact.

Abernathy, for his part, wondered what he was supposed to be feeling at this precise moment in time. Emotions had never been his strong point. Growing up, he had felt like robot, mimicking the feelings and emotions of those around him without ever truly experiencing them. It wasn’t until he had become a knight that he had discovered any wealth of feeling within himself. Receiving the Erbium Pendant and transforming for the first time had changed everything. The way the magic tingled across his skin, the comforting feeling as the clothes of his fuku enveloped him, the slight and subtle shift in his perception of the world around him. If he had possessed the emotional and poetic sensibility, he would he likened it to returning to the womb.

In the days, weeks, and months that followed that momentous (and deeply mystifying) event, Abernathy had developed an acute case of emotions. The first and most enduring of those emotions was pain. It was the emotion from which all others had sprung, and it more than anything else characterized his time as an Atomic Knight.

Now, even pain seemed unimaginable. The events of the past few hours had completely overwhelmed him to the point where he was no longer aware of what he was feeling, or even if he was feeling anything at all. He willed himself in his innermost thoughts to connect to something -- anything -- but he found only hollow emptiness. His emotional system was completely shut down. He wondered if that was a bad or a good thing. Possibly it was too early to tell.

Of the eight of them, n’Barit Kinmera should have been the most well-prepared for this experience, because it was not the first time he had been separated from the planet he lived on, but he struggled in confusion as much as anyone. He had been living on Earth for some time now (even if he still didn’t understand their calendar system or day length and could not read or write any of their innumerable languages) and while it was not his home in the same sense it was everyone’s else’s home, it was the place where he lived, ate, and slept. There was an unbearable cosmic cruelty to the idea that he had now lost his connection to a second planet and had to acclimate to a third one. Maybe he’d get used to losing planets after he lost his fourth or fifth one. He wanted to croak in distress, but dared not display his suffering to the rest of the world. No one else, not even his guardian Daiyka, needed to know that he felt anything but contempt towards the Earth, or that losing it reminded him in any way of his loss of Yuul.

Even now, he could still see his homeplanet in his mind’s eye. He held it with him always. Some part of him never left that moment when he stood at the window of the ship that had borne him to Earth. He clung to the memory of his last glimpse of the tan and green planet he had known as home with a true ferocity, even as other memories of his world slipped away. So, too, did he remember the way it had looked upon his return so many years later. The tan and green planet had morphed into a world of brown and grey, like a rotted loaf of karra.

That left only Tanaka, known also as Hydrogen Knight, the so-called leader of the Atomic Knights. He had joined the diplomatic mission out of a sense of self-importance and a pathological need to have that importance reflected in the world around him. For some reason, despite his almost single-handedly saving the entire planet, his importance was largely overlooked by both the Knighthood and the world at large. No parades, no statues, no obedience from the other Knights. Sometimes he wondered why he had even bothered to save the world at all. If only he had the power to time travel. He could let the world be destroyed instead of saving it and show everyone exactly how important he was.

Though the four Atomic Knights and their four guardians were occupying the same physical space, there was no denying the truth. They were each of them, in their own way, completely alone.

TEAM ATOMIC KNIGHTS
They use the title "knight" but they are full, regular senshi, not guardians of other senshi. All pendants are shown slightly larger than actual size so the details are visible. The pendant discs are about the size of a half-dollar coin.

Team Name: Atomic Knights
Senshi Name: Nobelium Knight
Civilian Name: Reza Alden Khan
Senshi Of: Unity
Level: Basic
Ethnicity: Pakistani
Gender: male
Birthday: August 28
Age: 27
Height: 5' 9"
Civilian Appearance: Alden stands five feet and nine inches, with medium brown skin and golden eyes often described as "lazy" in appearance. He keeps in shape with recreational cycling and swimming, resulting in a modestly fit frame: not particularly muscled, but not a great deal of excess fat either. He has dark teal-colored hair. He keeps it short with bangs parted on the right and a bit of sideburn. Alden has long cultivated an expression of cool disinterest towards the world, but when he's moved by something, he can be quite expressive, with eyebrows that furrow and jump and dance easily. He is considered conventionally attractive in a casual, everyman sort of way, and he takes care in his appearance and personal grooming. He is picky about his clothes and prefers clean looks tailored to fit him well. His go-to outfit is a dress shirt in a fancy fabric with black jeans, but he'll sport a variety of looks depending on the setting and occasion. He has been known to occasionally grow out a bit of scruff, but usually doesn't keep it around very long for two reasons: he finds he's treated better when clean-shaven, and he prefers the clean-shaven look himself. He has a pair of small moles on his back, just above his right hip.
Special abilities: Medical knowledge.

Backstory: Born in London to immigrant parents, Alden's family worked hard to secure a good future for their children and pushed Alden to excel academically. Their dream was for their firstborn son to obtain financial and social success by becoming a doctor, and Alden made that his dream as well. Everything in his family's household came secondary to Alden finding educational and eventual professional success. His educational success manifested when he was accepted to Oxford's A100 medical program, which would seem to set him up for the desired professional success. Everything was going according to plan the first year, but in the second year, Alden started to live life for himself instead of his family, and by his fourth year he decided to quit because he had no desire to become a doctor. He instead pursued a career in writing, finding work as a technical and true crime writer. His flexible work schedule has proven to be a great asset in his duties as Nobelium Knight.

Personality: Known for frequent exasperation and wry sarcasm, Alden spent much of his life being fairly miserable and still sometimes gives off the air of someone who hates everything, but he's overcome most of that misery at this point and is a generally content and well-balanced individual. His frown-like resting face is merely a relic of a bygone past, an unconscious habit he has been unable to break. He is, despite his countenance, a reasonable man, with an excellent capacity for listening, strong reasoning skills, and a hefty level of empathy for others. If anything, it is this abundance of empathy which made his early life so unpleasant, as it took him many years to learn to value himself as highly as he has valued the other people in his life. While he is no longer as melancholy as he once was, finding things to be happy about is something he's still learning to master. Partly thanks to his solitary scholastic upbringing, he finds both great joy and exhaustion in social interactions, often at the same time, which can lead to frequent groaning. As he is older than many of his fellow Knights, he often feels responsible for looking out for them, and they cause him endless headaches. Alden has been forced to admit he might be a masochist, because no matter how difficult he finds his teammates, he never gives up on them.

Henshin Item and Description: The Nobelium Pendant has a dark teal disc with white trim and white markings forming a representation of a nobelium atom with a two cream-colored triangles at the top and bottom pointing towards the nucleus.
Henshin Phrase: Nobelium Unity Power, Charge Up!
Henshin Description: Alden grips the Nobelium pendant in his hand and calls out his transformation phrase. He turns into a teal and cream energy form with a shining white square on his forehead. White rays of light wrap around him, forming first the underlayers of his fuku, then the tunic, shoulders, boots, and gloves. White squares of energy flash at his chest, waist, upper arm, and boots. The energy from the squares spreads out forming the belt and collar and the transformation is complete.
Senshi Appearance: Nobelium wears a cream-color sleeveless tunic with a dark teal sailor collar and belt over black pants and a high-collared skintight sleeveless shirt. His collar is squarish rather than the traditional V and has a central-split high collar, with three white lines proceeding along the left and right sides of the collar around to the back, and three white lines at the collar as well. The collar also features a white square brooch in the middle. The back of the collar extends midway down his back and has a white square set in the middle of the bottom, on top of the three white lines. The underside of the collar is white with teal trim. His belt features a white rectangular buckle, and he has a glowing white square on his forehead. The bottom of the tunic has a very slight angled V shape and three white stripes as trim. There are two white loops at the tunic's arm holes. His shoulders are bare and dark teal fingerless opera-length gloves cover his arms. The gloves feature a flare at the top and are held in place by cream-color straps on his upper arm, near the armpit. The straps have white squares set on the outside. His gloves extend down to a cream-colored ring on his middle finger, leaving his palms and fingers bare. His pants are tight, made of a stretchy material, and disappear into cream-colored knee-high boots. The boots feature a folded over and split flap at the top with three white stripes facing outward. They are folded over teal-colored straps with white squares in the middle front. The toe of his boots feature a white square motif and the soles of his boots are teal in color.

Attack Names and Descriptions:
Power Unification - This requires two other senshi to perform. Nobelium kneels down on one knee and two other senshi stand behind him with hands on Nobelium's shoulders. Nobelium calls out "Power Unification" and all three participants glow. The other two senshi can either call out powers of their own or simply provide their energy. The result is a combination of the attacks or energies contributed to the unification. If neither senshi called out a power, the result is a powerful energy beam that combines the essence of the two contributing senshi with Nobelium's. It's about 2.5 times more powerful than a regular attack. If one senshi calls out a power, the result is that the power is doubled in strength. If both senshi called out attacks, the result is a combination of the attacks used. Power Unification is not specific to the Knights and can be used with any other senshi.

Unity Link - Nobelium presses his hands to his head and calls out "Nobelium Unity Link." White beams of light shoot out to up to six targets and link their minds together. It links not only mental dialogue, but also thought and intent, essentially allowing all the participants to think and act as one and coordinate their actions. It works so long as all participants are within shouting range of Nobelium. Moving out of range will break the connection. Having six other minds is fairly draining on Nobelium, but he can manage four others without trouble.

Guardian Name and Description: Ricky Ringo is a red panda with a white square marking on his forehead. Cheerful and gregarious, he's kind and considerate to those around him and possesses an unflappable optimism about the world. He loves to explore new places and meet new people. He has a deliberate manner, very careful and measured and prepared. He can sometimes be a little slow to adapt to changing situations. He's methodical in his problem-solving, and loves working with checklists. He enjoys being outdoors and climbing, and loves being with people and engaging in conversation about anything and everything. At the end of the day, he loves to have someone to curl up next to. While he is very personality and has lots of friends, he sometimes isn't completely honest and open about things, and has very few close friends who know anything of his innermost thoughts and emotions.

Other Information: On the advice of friends, Alden's parents gave their children English middle names to aid in their assimilation in their adopted home. Alden is used to being addressed as such and most people don't even realize his first name is Reza. While Alden is not the official leader of the Knights (that role belongs to Tanaka), he is without question their most diplomatic representative and the one most likely to cooperate and coordinate when needed.

Team Name: Atomic Knights
Senshi Name: Erbium Knight
Civilian Name: Abernathy Taylor Hicks
Senshi Of: Isolation
Level: Basic
Ethnicity: English/Welsh
Gender: male
Birthday: September 16
Age: 20
Height: 6'
Civilian Appearance: Tall and lanky, Abernathy is a natural scarecrow with ungainly mannerisms and clumsy lack of bodily awareness. He hit puberty late and grew much too quickly. As a result, he is still getting accustomed to his own physical dimensions. He has pale, pinkish skin that doesn't see a lot of sunshine and large, bright blue eyes. Thin as he is, he has a degree of softness from his largely sedentary lifestyle. He has big hands and feet, boasting a size thirteen shoe. He has a tendency to hunch and slouch. His short, sandy brown hair always looks a bit unruly and unkempt. He parts his hair on his left side. His beard hair grows slowly and unevenly and is a few shades darker than the hair on his head, so he keeps clean-shaven. He always seems to look doubtful, concerned, or troubled. He doesn't seem capable of displaying joy, happiness, or enthusiasm. The closest thing is a peaceful innocence visible when he sleeps. He dresses very casually a bit sloppily, largely because the clothes made for his size height-wise are a little too big for his frame. He favors cargo or camo pants and t-shirts with a button shirt thrown on over the top. His clothes are usually very wrinkled and cheap. He bruises easily and is self-conscious about it. He has a smattering of lentigines across his body.

Special abilities: Good with computers.

Backstory: Abernathy was abandoned by his mother and raised by his grandmother in southwest Virginia. He grew up in a strict Southern Baptist household, raised with the fire-and-brimstone branch of Christianity in a community where Jesus was touted as the most important thing of all. (Which easily explains why his mother rebelled and left town.) There was no room for anything short of fervent devotion to the supposed word of god, and until he was in middle school, Abernathy didn't even know that there were any other ways to think of people besides "good Christians" and "heathens." It was in middle school that he obtained a computer for his birthday and access to the internet, where he quickly took to trying to spread his religious rhetoric to the rest of the world. He soon learned there were other ways to view the universe beyond the scope of religious dogma, and in high school he began to have doubts. Gradually, computers became more important to him than religion, and he developed a passion for programming that drove him to enroll in technical school to study networking and programming. He still maintained his Baptist beliefs, but rarely acted on them, using his studies as his excuse as to why not. Secretly, he was also consumed with the revelation that he was a senshi, which opened him up to powers outside the realm of his religion. After his grandmother died, he dropped all pretense of belief and admitted he was an atheist. Since he had no real ties to anyone also, he agreed to travel to the wedding when Alden invited him along.

Personality: Shy and melancholy, Abernathy is not someone who opens up to others easily, even when he trusts them. Having been raised in such a sheltered and dogmatic culture, he is simultaneously naive and gullible about some things, stubborn and resistant about others. For example, he can be tricked about new things he encounters (like being told a ghost pepper is called that because it has only a ghost trace of heat) or completely resist new ideas (like not accepting the existence of senshi, even after being told he is one and transforming). While Abernathy is no longer religious and hasn't truly believed in any god since his final high school years, he still feels guilty about leaving the faith he grew up in. He is a pessimist by nature and always seems to find the worst in things. He spends a lot of his time thinking about things that make him sad and ignoring things that would make him happy. He loves to read and does so as an escape from his otherwise sad thoughts, often rereading books he likes. While he is rarely happy, he takes pride in being a competent worker and understanding computers well. He is most knowledgeable about hardware and can spend hours frequenting hardware-oriented discussion boards. He likes posting anonymously online because he is very comfortable around other people. He likes talking about books and computers, but otherwise he's a very private person and doesn't like to share his feelings or talk about his family or past. He is especially shy around women and has trouble talking to them.

Henshin Item and Description: The Erbium Pendant has a black disc with white trim and white markings forming a representation of an erbium atom with a six light blue diamond shapes set along the outer circle and a light blue dot for the nucleus.
Henshin Phrase: Erbium Isolation Power, Charge Up!
Henshin Description: Abernathy grips the Erbium pendant in his hand and calls out his transformation phrase. He turns into a black and white energy form with a shining white diamond on his forehead. White rays of light wrap around him, forming first the underlayers of his fuku, then the tunic, shoes, and shoulders. White diamonds of energy flash at his chest and waist. The energy from the diamonds spreads out forming the hooded cape, belt, sleeve covers, and boot covers, and the transformation is complete.
Senshi Appearance: Erbium wears a white tunic with black belt, black pants, and hooded cape. All the black elements feature a single line of white trim, while the white elements feature a single line of black trim. The base of the tunic is angled into a slight V shape and there are two black arm loops around the shoulders. The long, puffy sleeves of the tunic tuck into black cloth bracers covering his forearms. The bracers come to a V along the back of his hand. His hands themselves are uncovered. His belt features a design made of three horizontal diamonds: a central diamond in light blue color flanked by two smaller white diamonds set behind the blue one. His cape is pinned in place by a vertically-aligned light blue diamond set front and center and has two descending V shapes on either side. The cape extends down to his knees and has a reverse-V shape to it and features a light blue diamond at the peak of this V. The interior of the cape is white with black edges. His pants are baggy and tucked into white cloth spats that reach a pointed V on top of his feet. The boots underneath are black in the area of the heel, white in the area of the toe. The black turns to white in a V shape angled similarly to his spats. Lastly, he has a glowing white diamond shape on his forehead.

Weapon and Description: The Erbium Staff is a seven and a half-foot pike. Most of its length is made up of a black shaft. The head of the spear is white with black lines and diamond patterns. It has a crossbar with small black spearheads at either end and a light blue diamond in the center. The main spearhead is black with a large blue diamond at its base. All three of the spearheads are razor sharp, but Erbium Knight is only provisionally competent with his weapon in regular combat and is more of a mild menace than a deadly opponent. He is much more dangerous with the pike when linked to Chromium Knight.

Attack Names and Descriptions:

Total Isolation - Abernathy kneels and leans forward with his staff held straight in front of him, allowing his cape to fall forward and envelop him as he shouts "Total Isolation!" He glows with black energy, as do any targets. Up to two people can be targeted, including himself. Anyone so targeted is moved to a sort of shadow realm, totally isolated from everyone else around them. While people in this shadow realm can see and hear everything around them, they cannot be seen or heard themselves, and they cannot interact with anything -- everyone and everything around them is solid while they are insubstantial. There is a very slight residual substance effect which prevents anyone under this isolation from falling through the floor or walking through walls, but anyone struck by a moving object or person would feel it only as a wind-like ripple through their body. The power can be used offensively, defensively, or strategically -- Erbium can use it to isolate allies or enemies as protection from assault, to isolate an ally and an enemy to facilitate that enemy's defeat, or even to sneak around without being seen. Erbium can see what is happening in the shadow realm even when he is not in it. Anyone affected by the power can use their powers on whoever else is in the shadow realm, allowing for healing or attacking others in the realm, but objects and people outside the realm cannot be affected. The isolation lasts three or four minutes, which is quite a long time in battle, and Erbium can activate it a handful of times a day before becoming tired. The shadow realm is so named because it bends light in funny ways, making everything look slightly darker, and also makes things seem to glow faintly black. This powers temporarily severs any connected to Unity Link, but the link is restored upon exiting the shadows. Erbium can isolate three people with Power Unification, which is the team's favored method of escape when case they are in trouble.

Solo Barrier - Erbium Knight points his staff at a spot on the ground and shouts "Solo Barrier!" A white glow travels down his staff and turns into a fan of light that shoots towards the intended spot, striking the ground at a width of about twelve feet. A wall of white energy shoots up from the ground to a height of about eight to ten feet and a thickness of roughly four inches. It's essentially just a magic wall, glowy and white. It can block physical or energy attacks. It's slightly transparent, about 80% opaque. It can last up to five minutes or until Erbium powers it down. Erbium can make six or seven such barriers on a battlefield. Most of the time he creates them so they rise straight up, but they can be formed at any angle to the ground. They can intersect. Walls can also be formed on other walls. Erbium can arrange them to form complex structures. They can be used in conjunction with existing structures -- for example, to block off a hallway. If you look really, really close, you can see that the structure is made up of a tight lattice of tiny white diamonds.

Guardian Name and Description: Hiram El Achren is a brown hare with white diamond on his forehead. Quiet and reserved, he is a rabbit of few words and great observational skills. He prefers to spend his time alone and would rather slink around in the shadows than interact with others. He is usually quite hard to find and only appears when he wants to. he has a very tactical mind and is always maneuvering with an eye towards escape, defense, or attack. He is extremely brave and will attack if cornered, or even before he's cornered if he sees an opportunity. He very quickly adjusts to changing situations and is ready to fight or flee at a moment's notice no matter what the occasion. He prefers a stoic, spartan existence, with as few connections to people, places, and things as possible. He is a technical Luddite.

Team Name: Atomic Knights
Senshi Name: Chromium Knight
Civilian Name: n'Barit Kinmera
Senshi Of: Shields
Level: Basic
Species: Yuulani
Gender: male
Birthday: 13 Fentith
Age: ~20
Height: 5' 7"
Civilian Appearance: Wiry and athletic, n'Barit has a thin and bony frame with very little body fat. While his muscles are not large and bulky, they seem to constitute the majority of his build, as if his body is nothing more than bone and muscle covered by the thinnest layer of skin imaginable. He has different musculature than a human: more muscles, but they're smaller and thinner than a human's, in additional to being stronger. To make an analogy: human muscles are like slabs of rubber compared to n'Barit's steel strings, and every motion he makes displays the ripple of muscles beneath his reddish tan skin. He has pale, light green hair that hangs limply on his head: short in back with long, centrally-parted bangs in the front that verge on covering his eyes. His eyes are green and a half-shade darker than his hair, with a brown ring of color around the outer edge of his irises. He has a serious stare -- a perpetual scowl, really -- and thick eyelids that droop slightly. He always dresses in multiple layers and in a combination of dark green, white, and gold, with an occasional light green or red accent. He is extremely fond of zippers. Since his homeplanet is much warmer than Earth, his clothing layers are as functional as they are aesthetic. His teeth and bones are tan in color.
Special abilities: Compared to humans, has a very high resistance to heat and sunlight. He specializes in the martial arts and unarmed fighting and is also proficient in most simple weapons thanks to his upbringing.

Backstory: Born on the planet Yuul, n'Barit was trained from a young age as a barrigater -- a combination of magistrate, priest, and elite soldier of the Yuulan people. His planet was beset by a plague and n'Barit was sealed in a protective stasis chamber and sent to outer space by the Yuulani High Council to seek aid. His ship malfunctioned and he was left to sleep in space for untold years as his ship drifted at a fraction of its intended speed. Eventually the ship picked up radio signals from Earth and delivered him there. He landed in the desert outside Las Vegas, mistaking it for a holy city because of its location and all the lights. Luckily, he was discovered by the vulture guardian Daiyka, who bestowed upon him the mantle of Chromium Knight. He joined the ranks of the knights in exchange for their help for his homeworld, but when he returned to Yuul with his new brethren, he found his homeworld deserted and in ruins with no clue as to where his people had gone or if they even still survived. He wanted to stay on Yuul, but his teammates convinced him to return to Earth, and they have since been looking for signs as to what happened to the Yuulani. Thus n'Barit's decision to accompany the group attending the wedding in the hope they might discover new clues.

Personality: Fiercely disciplined and dogmatic, n'Barit is not an easy person to get along with. He judges everything and everyone he encounters by the unforgiving standards of his homeworld. He can be extremely intolerant and has a gruff, serious nature. While he is not a nice person, he is loyal to a fault and cares deeply about the people around him, even if he doesn't usually show it in a positive way. He will defend others to the death and is always the first onto the battlefield. Water is sacred to the Yuulani and n'Barit has many rituals and rules regarding it. He often encounters cultural and social issues when he interacts with humans, but this has gotten much better over the past six years, and he's much less likely to get upset over mistakes on either side at this point. When something does happen -- like someone intentionally spilling water to offend him -- he will emit a croaking noise like a frog which is the Yuulan equivalent of a warning growl. He can also display a violent temper. He won't attack anyone, but he will ram his fist into the nearest wall or table with great force. (Thankfully he has very resilient bones.) He doesn't generally care about getting human mores right because he doesn't respect humans much, but sometimes his temper will flare up if he does something that he feels embarrassed about, particularly if he inadvertently and strongly offends a female. Yuulan society is highly matriarchal and n'Barit values women, even human ones. Overall, he just wants to get back to his people, and he'll endure any sort of torment to achieve this. He has a very high tolerance for pain and discomfort, so the lengths to which he's willing to go are quite considerable. He would give an arm and a leg to be reunited with his people.

Henshin Item and Description: The Chromium Pendant has a dark green disc with gold trim and gold markings forming a representation of a chromium atom with a small red dot for the nucleus.
Henshin Phrase: Chromium Shield Power, Charge Up!
Henshin Description: N'Barit grips the Chromium pendant in his hand and calls out his transformation phrase. He turns into a green energy form with a shining white circle on his forehead. White rays of light wrap around him, forming first the underlayers of his fuku, then the tunic and boots. White circles of energy flash at his chest, waist, boots and sleeves. The energy from the circles spreads out forming his belt, collar/cape, shoulders, and the red circles across his outfit, and the transformation is complete.
Senshi Appearance: Chromium wears a white short-sleeved tunic over dark green long-sleeved turtleneck and baggy pants. His tunic is trimmed in gold, with red circles set on the outside of the sleeves and two gold-colored loops around his shoulders. Over his tunic he wears a circular cape with a high collar that covers the lower half of his face. The cape is dark green on the outside and white on the underside, with thick gold trim along the edges. The front of the cape forms a circular collar, with a red gem trimmed in gold set at the bottom. His turtleneck undershirt has thick gold trim as the cuffs with a large red circle atop his write. His hands are uncovered. He has a gold belt which is open in front, secured by two red gems with gold trim set on either side of his stomach. His pants are tucked into white boots with thick gold trim at the top and red circles in the front. The toes and soles of his boots are golden. He has a glowing white circle on his forehead.

Attack Names and Descriptions:
Chromium Shield - Calling out his power, Chromium can conjure an energy shield, the exact dimensions of which can be modified as needed. By using the palm of his hand, he can create a lens-like shield with a diameter of up to ten feet at a distance of up to fifteen feet. (Think of it as if there is a cone emerging from his hand and intersecting with an imaginary bubble with Chromium Knight in the center.) The shield can be moved as he moves his hand and always orients so that it is protecting him. Using two palms allows Chromium to move the shield up to thirty feet away and orient it in any direction -- to protect a nearby ally, for example. By making a fist, he can make a shield bubble around himself with a diameter of ten feet, protecting himself and anyone inside it. When Chromium moves his shields, they adjust around any obstacles as if they were made of water, but they remain solid. This can be used for ancillary effects, such as pinning an enemy in place.

Chromium Armor - By touching his hand to the red gem on his chest, Chromium can conjure up golden armor which has physical and energy-resistance powers. He uses this when fighting in close combat.

Guardian Name and Description: Dallyete Daiyka is a turkey vulture DINOSAUR, with black and brown feathers, pink head and legs, and a cream beak. He spends his time sleeping, eating, and hunting, and he sees little purpose in anything else. He is known to be something of a bully when the chance arises, happily pushing weaker personalities to bend to his will, but he's very savvy about who he targets and how, so he usually gets away with it. He has a cruel sense of humor and sees the world as a collection of predators and prey. He makes it his business to be a predator whenever possible and is merciless to any perceived prey. He likes n'Barit because not only does n'Barit share a warrior's view of the world, n'Barit's naivete and loyalty make him an ideal follower. While they might be equals on the battlefield, off of it, n'Barit defers to Daiyka's knowledge of social mores. Daiyka is fond of reminding people that he is in fact a dinosaur, and he's happy to remind mammals that they're all vermin. N'Barit, since he is not a true mammal, escapes this criticism. Daiyka frequently collects carrion and tends to leave his leftovers wherever he pleases. As inconsiderate as he can be, he has a sharp sense of humor and strong code of honor that has earned him several friends, and he can be quite fair to those who have earned his respect. His respect is mostly earned by demonstrating battle prowess, but can also be earned by demonstrations of intellect. Despite Daiyka's narrow worldview, he is quite intelligent and even technically proficient. He likes to play down his intelligence and knowledge so others underestimate him.

Other Information: When Yuulani are embarrassed, aroused, or other situations where humans would blush red, their skin turns paler and ashen in color, like when the blood drains from a human's face -- except in the Yuulani the opposite is occurring. Yuulan blood is pale, milky, yellow-white in color. Their skin is reddish. The more blood at the surface of their skin, the paler they look. When they are calm, they look more reddish.

Team Name: Atomic Knights
Senshi Name: Hydrogen Knight
Civilian Name: TANAKA Minerou
Senshi Of: Shields
Level: Basic
Ethnicity: Japanese
Gender: male
Birthday: January 8
Age: 25
Height: 5' 5"
Civilian Appearance: Standing only five-foot-five, Tanaka is a poster child for the Napoleon complex. He has warm light beige skin and dark, chocolate brown hair and eyes with thick eyebrows. He wears glasses with thick black frames and keeps his hair slicked back save for a few shorter strands. This makes his hair appear much shorter than it actually is. When his hair isn't slicked back, the bangs fall all the way to his eyes. He has a tendency to run his hands through his hair when stressed or nervous, so his hair frequently becomes unkempt. Though small in stature, he isn't particularly fit and has some extra padding, particularly around the middle. He wears suits and prefers red or blue ties, solid or with understated patterns. His face is often described as "intense," in large part because he is usually angry. He has a small mouth, but this does nothing to dampen the volume of his mouth when he shouts or lessen his ability to frown disapprovingly. He usually keeps a pad of paper and pen on him and likes to scribble math problems whenever he can.
Special abilities: Strong mathematical skills.

Backstory: Tanaka (who never goes by his first name, so don't use it) was born to a working-class father and educated mother, leading to the rather unfortunate situation of his father's income being the family's sole support when his mother left the workforce to become a mother and housewife, despite her possessing better income potential. This forced Tanaka's father Kenji to work excruciatingly hard and long hours to support the family. His mother Hiromi devoted her time to pushing Tanaka to succeed. She also secretly did odd jobs to earn extra money for the family, but never told Kenji lest it injure his pride. Tanaka was raised to be strongly disciplined and work hard, spending almost as many hours studying as his father worked. He had good grades and did especially well in math. He went on to study mathematics in university. While his grades and test scores were not high enough to put him in a top-tier university, he managed a respectable second-tier university placement. He did decently, but was unable to secure a job as anything more than a high school math teacher after he graduated. Filled with resentment at what he saw as an unjustified lowly position in life, he was granted an outlet when he took on the mantle of Hydrogen Knight.

Personality: Tanaka inherited a lot of resentment from both his father and his mother. As a result, he is an almost singularly bitter person, constantly focused on everything everyone else has and everything lacking in his own life. It consumes him and manifests in sullenness, a short temper, and angry mannerisms. Tanaka doesn't say words so much as growl or spit them. He has little patience for pleasantries or niceties. He hates cutesy things. Anything flowery, bubbly, saccharine, or pink is a total no-go. People possessing these qualities annoy him to no end. When he meets new people, his first thoughts are not to befriend them, but to assess them and figure out reasons to be jealous of or dismiss them. He spends a great deal of time comparing himself to others in excruciating detail and getting angry when he feels anyone else is better than him in any way. Though Tanaka has many advantages and strengths, he finds no satisfaction in recognizing them, instead preferring only to recognize and focus on negative comparisons. This constant measuring against everyone else doesn't leave much time for hobbies, but he does enjoy reading. Pulpy crime and samurai/shogun-era novels, not the masterpieces of Japanese literature that get translated into English. He also has an affection for number and logic puzzles. All solitary hobbies, of course. Tanaka's upbringing left him markedly antisocial. It also bred a healthy work ethic: he isn't the type to give up on problems or projects, working methodically towards completing the tasks he undertakes. The only problem is he despises asking for help and prefers to do everything himself, even when this means he is unable to progress because he lacks necessary skills or resources. Sadly, this desire to always stand alone is probably why Tanaka has not had the scholastic and professional success he so craves. He also hates being alone, but hasn't managed to find many people who can stand to be around him for any meaningful length of time. Of the few who make the short list, Hiram is the only one present at the Bay. They don't actually talk much or actively share anything, which is why it works so well. Hiram usually sleeps in Tanaka's room, but no one outside the two of them know this.

Henshin Item and Description: The Hydrogen Pendant has a brown disc with gold trim and gold markings forming a representation of a hydrogen atom with a large white nucleus and an outer ring with a small white dot representing an electron at the top.
Henshin Phrase: Hydrogen Mass Power, Charge Up!
Henshin Description: Tanaka grips the Hydrogen pendant in his hand and calls out his transformation phrase. He turns into a brown and gold energy form with a shining white chevron on his forehead. White rays of light wrap around him, forming first the underlayers of his fuku, then the tunic, boots, and gloves. White chevrons of energy flash at his chest, waist, wrists, and boots. The energy from the chevrons spreads out forming the belt, shoulders, and collar/cape, and the transformation is complete.
Senshi Appearance: Hydrogen wears a brown tunic, gold sailor collar cape, gold belt, and tight white pants. His tunic has two white loops at the shoulder and long, jacket-style sleeves with two lines of white trim at the cuffs. A white chevron shape sits atop the trim on the outside of the sleeve. He has long golden cloves that cover his forearm beneath the sleeves. Two lines of white trim adorn the base of his tunic, which has an angled V shape. His belt is similarly angled into a V, with a large, white chevron-shaped buckle. His cape features a high split collar with two lines of white trim at the top which converge into single lines along the inner edge of the split, converge with a line of white trim that encircles the base of his neck, and finally converge into a single line which drops down towards a white chevron emblem set at the base of the front of his collar. Two lines of trim extend out from the emblem along the collar's bottom edge around back to his cape. His cape is thigh-length and flares at the hips, then cuts back to form a shallow V shape. There is a white chevron emblem on the back, set at the base of this V. The interior of the cape is white with gold trim. His pants are tucked into sleek golden boots. The boots have a V angle at the top and double lines of white trim. A white chevron shape sits at the base of this V on top of the trim. The trim extends down the front of the boots, then splits at the ankle, each line diverging to form an inverted V shape. The toe of the boots is brown in color and the soles are white.

Attack Names and Descriptions:
Mass Bullet - Hydrogen can conjure small, palm-sized energy bullets at will and propel them through the air by flicking his hand in the direction he wants them to do. The "bullets" are small spheres of crackling brown and black energy that glow and have a black halo. They move so quickly, the spheres look like a streak of energy as they fly through the air.  If they strike a person, it feels like being struck briefly by a taser. They can sometimes bounce if they strike a surface, but usually they just impact and embed into objects they strike. When they impact, they cause a small disc of energy to fly out to a radius of roughly ten inches, as if they've gone splat. It's possible to be zapped by the splat disc if you happen to near an impact site. They ignore clothing and most armor. The bullets are particularly effective against crystalline structures. When they strike something crystal, the impact is two to four time more potent. Hydrogen even has a technique where he can slide a bullet along a crystal, and it will increase in charge as it does so, potentially creating a bullet which is four to ten times stronger than usual. The crystal amplification is most effective on stone crystals, but it also works with ice. Conversely, the bullets are weakest against water, and they can be diffused by striking or passing through most liquids.

Mass Driver - Mass Driver is a power with a simple concept (Hydrogen can control a large object) but immense potential and it can be used in multiple ways. Full details here: Mass Driver

Guardian Name and Description: Tom Henry is a black and white cat with lavender eyes and a white chevron shape on his forehead. His mouth is normally turned up into a sneer or smirk. He is endlessly cruel to everyone he meets and takes great joy from watching others suffer. (This seems to be the reason why he chose Tanaka to be Hydrogen Knight.) He will scratch and bite at the faintest provocation, and sometimes without provocation at all, just because he's bored or he feels like it. He is widely regarded as the worst person among the entirety of the Atomic Knights. The only good thing about Tom Henry is that he is incredibly lazy. Normally laziness would be a bad things, but in Tom Henry's case, it means that the world is spared his nefarious machinations at least fourteen hours out of the day because he sits around and sleeps a lot. He can get along passably well with Hiram and Daiyka, but he hates Ricky Ringo, and he doesn't much care for Alden. He enjoys tormenting Tanaka and Abernathy. The only reason he doesn't go after n'Barit is because Daiyka has threatened to drop him from rather high up in the sky, and Tom Henry knows Daiyka will do it. Empty and idle threats do nothing to dissuade him, and petty threats will only earn his ire.

Other Information: As he represents the first and most basic of all the elements, Hydrogen Knight is the central and most powerful figure among his senshi group. (Basically, he's the group's Sailormoon.) This makes him the official leader. It does not mean everyone else automatically follows him. Also, Tanaka is only ever addressed using his surname. He doesn't even give his first name out to anyone. If he ever did, it would signify that person is of great importance to him. Even among his teammates and the guardians, no one addresses him by his first name. Tanaka is a chain smoker and his biggest regret is not packing his luggage full of cigarette cartons. He also speaks English very well. He spent a semester as an exchange student to bolster his English skills in high school, and has since had plenty of practice with the other Knights.

Do you have any idea how excited I am to see a team of MALE senshi?? Between your team, my Soldier Pegasi, :iconlissapin:'s Guardian Freyr and :iconquixoticapricot:'s Soldier Orcus, we have SEVEN guys! That's like-- a sailor moon RECORD! They need to have a guys-only meet up at some point. They aren't required to like each other, but they should at least feel some camaraderie in a group that is so predominantly female :p

Anywho, I really enjoyed reading this. Your story was very well put together and I got a great sense of who these guys are as individuals. I hope you enjoy playing with all of us at BSS - welcome!

Oddly enough, I think my female character, Peggy, might be able to become friends with some of these guys. She doesn't make friends easily, but she could bond with Abernathy over programming, and possibly even get along with Alden somewhat. It would be an interesting plotbunny to explore.

Here are my characters. Please check them out :D
